As the development of autonomous driving assistance systems (ADAS) continues, it has become crucial to test the safety and effectiveness of these ADAS camera systems. The MLB-HMC-V2 ADAS Camera Tester is a solution for testing the image quality of ADAS camera systems, capable of detecting their imaging quality in complex lighting environments and at different moving speeds. 

The tester effectively creates a new approach for measuring the quality of vehicle images by measuring Contrast Detection Probability (CDP), Flicker Modulation Index (FMI), Modulation Mitigation Probability (MMP), Flicker Detection Index (FDI), Rise1090. New technologies in the automotive industry mean that the importance of traditional KPIs (such as signal-to-noise ratio) has decreased, and new measurement methods are needed to address the latest technology.


Test Items


▲ CDP Scenario Test: Contrast Detection Probability

Four transmissive lightboxes are located at the back, and four identical density charts are used in combination with different light source settings to obtain different brightness block distributions under high dynamic range, in order to measure the CDP index of the imaging system.


▲ Flicker Test: Flicker Modulation Index (FMI), Modulation Mitigation Probability (MMP), Flicker Detection Index (FDI)

By shooting three LED lights in the center (left constant, center flickering, right constant dark), the impact of flicker on the imaging system is analyzed, and indicators related to flicker are obtained.


▲ Motion Test: Rise1090

By using moving and rotating image charts on a guide rail and a rotating disk, and combining different ambient lights simulated by top light sources, the indicators related to Motion (MTF) are analyzed by shooting and recording left and right movement and rotation image charts. 


The specially matched software control program enables MLB-HMC to accurately reproduce test conditions that are difficult to replicate in unpredictable outdoor environments in the laboratory. After setting up the standardized workflow for the first time, scripts can be imported to easily measure, and the testing process and environment have high consistency, making it easy to compare cameras horizontally.
